Teichelmann's, is a large 'Arts & Crafts' bungalow home built for Dr Ebenezer Teichelmann around 1910. An earlier section of the house dates from 1897. Its layout gives our guests privacy if they wish, or the option to relax in the comfort of a guest's lounge. Tea, coffee and fresh baking is available at all times. The bed and breakfast accommodation has been refurbished to include very comfortable beds, quality furnishings and excellent en suite bathroom facilities. 'Teichy's Garden Cottage' our premium studio/en suite room features a double spa bath overlooking a private garden area. Join other guests for a substantial continental or cooked breakfast at our elegant table which seats ten. Enjoy swapping experiences and stories of your adventures in Hokitika and throughout NZ, with people from all parts of the world.

Rooms at our historic Hokitika accommodation feature bedside lamps, night lights in bathroom, torch, magazines, clock radio, king beds, crisp cotton linen, pure NZ wool underlays, blanket and duvet covers, oil column heaters. Complimentary port and sherry in the lounge, tea and coffee facilities plus a range of herbal teas etc. To combat the coldest of Hokitika winters Teichelmann's accommodation is centrally heated. A permanently wired, NZ standards approved, smoke and heat detector system is fitted throughout the house.

The Consulting Room
Facing Hamilton Street and the historic Carnegie Library building, this super-king room was originally Dr Teichelmann’s Consulting/Surgery room and the windows still have the original opaque glass.
Bed size: Super-king which can be divided into Twin configuration).

Bathroom: Compact ensuite with shower, heat lamps, hairdryer, nightlight, toiletries
 
The Consulting Room
Mary's Room
This double room is more suited for single occupancy. Named for Mary, Dr Teichelmann’s wife; originally this room was much larger than it is now and was used by the Doctor for his library and snug.
Bed size: Standard Double.

Bathroom: Compact ensuite with shower, heat lamps, hairdryer, nightlight, toiletries.
 
Mary's Room
The Hopkins Room
Sunny and airy, this room overlooks a private garden courtyard area. The name recognises another important medical family that occupied the house c1928-1931.
Bed size: Super-king.
Features: Crisp cotton sheets, Fairydown blanket & duvet.
Bathroom: Larger sized ensuite with shower (wet floor, disability access), heat lamps, hairdryer, nightlight, toiletries.
 
The Hopkins Room
The Waiting Room
This smaller room facing Hamilton Street is generally used as our guests’ internet area and on request as single accommodation for a Driver/Guide. A PC with Broadband connection is available. Originally the front section of this room incorporated the patients’ waiting room area The nautical prints decorating the room reflect the historic importance of Hokitika as a shipping port.

The Wilson Room
A sunny, airy room that overlooks Hamilton Street to the front and the garden to the rear.. The upstairs section of the house was added c1934 by Dr Basil Wilson and this room was the master bedroom at that time. Suitable for double or triple occupancy.

Features: Crisp cotton sheets, Fairydown blankets, duvets. Tea/coffee making facilities & seating area.
Bathroom: Large, private, (non share) directly opposite the room, with shower, bath robes, heat lamps, hairdryer, nightlight, toiletries.

A sunny, airy room overlooking the historic Carnegie Library building on Hamilton Street and our garden area at the back of the house.
Bed size: King.
Features: Crisp cotton sheets, Fairydown blankets, feather & down duvet cover. Room has tea/coffee making facilities & seating area.
Bathroom: Larger ensuite (shower), bath robes, heat lamps, hairdryer, nightlight, toiletries.
The Carnegie Room
   
Teichy's Garden Cottage
Our premium studio room located in the rear garden. This is a sunny, airy room which looks over lawns, fern gardens, shrubs & trees. ‘Teichy’ or ‘The Little Doctor’ were affectionate names given to Dr Teichelmann by friends and the local community.
Bed Size: King.
Features: Crisp cotton sheets, Fairydown blanket, feather & down duvet.
Bathroom: Large ensuite which features a corner double spa bath (shower over),
looking out onto a delightful, private, illuminated fern garden.
