Then flying back to Adelaide and self driving up to the lovely Clare Valley with its fine Australian white wines, spend a day around the vines, maybe cycle the Riesling Trail through vines and historic villages. Explore the city's museum and galleries
or walk along the Torrens River and visit the vast indoor

Take a flight today to Kangaroo Island. Large areas of this island are designated parks and reserves for scenic and wildlife preservation. Australian Sea Lions, New Zealand fur seals, koala and a large population of Tammar wallabies and kangaroos all call this island home. Return to Adelaide today and then travel
by rental 4x4 to the Clare Valley, one of South Australia's
premier wine regions. For the true wine enthusiast a marginally
longer route can also include the Barrossa. This evening

of cellar doors to visit and vineyard restaurants where

or dinner. Walk or cycle a section of rail trail known as
the Riesling Trail or try the Riverton Trails south of Auburn.

A day of contrasts as you travel from
the prolific vineyards of the Clare to the near barren outpost
town of Hawker and then on to Wilpena Pound. The pound is
a natural rock formation that forms a natural amphitheatre,
a basin on the inside and virtually sheer cliffs on the
outside. Gorges, waterholes and lookouts provide picturesque
destinations for day trips. Wildlife is abundant and you'll

Start the day with a stunning scenic flight,
see Wilpena Pound, Arkaba Station, Elder Range, Edeowie
Gorge, Heysen Range, Lake Torrens, Bunyeroo Gorge, Brachina
Gorge, The Backbone of the Flinders, St Mary’s Peak and
the Pound Gap. Then off to explore a broad range of
walking trails cater to most levels of fitness. From the
relatively flat 'walk across the pound' to the challenging
track up Mt Olsen Bagge. Learn about the fascinating
history of the pound with a visit to the Wilpena Station
where you can stroll around the preserved historic station

four wheel drive tour to the Flinders Ranges more remote
locations. This afternoon tour takes you on a geological
journey through the Flinders Ranges National Park. You will
enjoy the beauty of Brachina and Bunyeroo Gorges and the
Aroona Valley, see views that have inspired artists such
as Sir Hans Heysen and observe the wildlife in their natural
habitat. If you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of the

Farewell to the Flinders and back to the
city today. Travel via Orroroo, and the picturesque town
of Burra with its well preserved 19th century town square.
