Sample Itinerary - Valid from 1st April 2011
Day 1 - Mala Walk & Kantju Gorge Sunset
After arriving at
Longitude 131° and settling in, meet in the
Dune House two hours before sunset to depart
for Uluru, where we will take a short walk
and learn the story of the Mala Man and then
proceed into Kantju Gorge. On arrival at the
gorge we will serve refreshments 'inside'
Uluru and watch the sunset. You will return
to Longitude 131° approximately 40 minutes
Day 2 - Kata Tjuta & Walpa Gorge and Table 131°
Depart Longitude 131° at 6.30am bound for Kata Tjuta. Upon arrival you will begin your journey with a guided tour of Walpa Gorge, where the natural history of Kata Tjuta is explained in great detail, learning how eons of weathering and continental upheaval have created what is seen today. You will return to Longitude 131° at approximately 10.30am for a well-earned breakfast. For early risers breakfast is available pre-tour from 5.45am.
Evening - Uluru Sunset &
Day 3 - Uluru Sunrise Base Tour & Cultural Centre
Depart the Dune House one
hour before sunrise for Uluru-Kata Tjuta
National Park to view the sun rising over
Uluru. Starting from the sacred site of
Kuniya Piti we head to the Mutitjulu
Waterhole where our guides will share the
Kuniya Liru Story as the sunrise develops
the haunting shadows behind us.
Afternoon & Evening
Alternatively, staying a third night at Longitude 131° offers you the ability to really relax and take in the beauty of Australia's Red Centre. Spend your afternoon at leisure. In the evening enjoy a private dinner by the pool or a gourmet dinner in the Dune House.
In the evening savour dishes from a new, daily
menu which fuses modern Australian cuisine and
indigenous flavours with a hint of international
influences. The evening also offers up experiences
to last a lifetime. Dine out under the spectacular
desert night sky at Table 131°, with the sounds of
the Didgeridoo in the background, and the beautiful
dusk desert sky fading from vibrant pinks/red to a
starlit sky, Longitude 131°'s resident storyteller
shares stories from the past at Tales by Firelight.
