Located at Hanson bay on the Island's south west coast, the Lodge site adjoins both the Flinders Chase and Cape Bouguer / Kelly Hill National Parks. Set back from a cliff above the pounding surf the sensitive design showcases a full frontal panorama and is within easy reach of all of Kangaroo Island's major attractions. Modern luxury and design integrity meld with Kangaroo island vernacular and an amazing coastal colour palette, creating a unique eco chic style.

Eat and Drink
Dining at Southern Ocean Lodge is both a dynamic delight for the senses and a true gastronomic journey of Kangaroo Island; the 'produce to plate' approach is a real passion for Chef Matthew Upson and his team.
Celebrated as Australia's culinary capital, the rich soils and
pure rains of South Australia inspire artisan growers to produce a
bounty of premium, fresh and often organic food and wines.
The daily changing menu honors these fine local ingredients with a
cuisine style at once sophisticated and simple to promote the
intense purity of flavors and to create a very special dining
experience, unique to the Island and to Southern Ocean Lodge.
An excellent range of diverse Kangaroo Island and South Australian
wines and beers has been hand selected to comprise the beverage
menu. Rates include all dining and all beverages (cellarmasters
list additional).
Stay
Twenty-one luxe suites commanding mesmerizing views of the Southern Ocean cantilever along the coast, creating the ultimate fusion between a breathtaking wilderness setting and unbridled creature comforts.
Interiors feature lavish King beds, sunken lounge, dramatic glass walled bathroom featuring Southern Spa amenities and outdoor terrace with occasional seating and daybed. Other features include; walk-in robe, complimentary room bar, twice daily housekeeping, optional climate control, heated floors, internet, music system (with MP3 input), safe and telephone. Televisions are in selected suites only.
Signature design elements such as sandblasted limestone floors and recycled spotted gum feature walls, as well as contemporary bespoke furnishings and artworks commissioned from local Kangaroo Island artisans harness the natural theatre of this dramatic landscape and environs.
