Luxury Accommodation - Our Cairns liveaboard is a boutique floating hotel, surrounded by the crystal clear waters of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. Accommodating only 42 guests at any time, Reef Encounter, Australia’s premier scuba dive and snorkel liveaboard is large enough to provide all the comforts of the largest Cruise ships yet small enough to enable access to spectacular reef locations inaccessible to other vessels. With Reef Encounter, guests have the opportunity to experience two full days and to sleep on the reef, giving them more time to relax and enjoy the experience, in and out of the water

Daily Departures -  Reef Encounter trips depart every day – we offer daily transfers via our vessel, Reef Experience boarding in Cairns at 7:30 am for breakfast transferring clients directly to Reef Encounter which allows you greater flexibility with your travel plans you can start your Reef Encounter holiday on the day that suits you best and stay for as long as you like. Reef Encounter has great flexibility and something for everyone if one member of your group wants to snorkel and the other wants to scuba dive or learn to scuba dive you can book the same trip and stay onboard together and enjoy the package that suits you best.

Marine Biologist - On our transfer vessel Reef Experience, we have an onboard Marine Biologist who will give you an informative Reef Presentation on your way to the Great Barrier Reef. It’s a great presentation on the Great Barrier Reef and the wonderful marine life that lives on the reef

  • On the voyage to Cairns Liveaboard, Reef Encounter you will be served breakfast to your table, with the options of a hot bacon and eggs cooked breakfast or continental fruit and croissant breakfast. Top Deck guests can also enjoy a selection of local press coffee, tea and juices. Reef Encounter always parks in easy distance of spectacular snorkelling coral lagoons and has a purpose built snorkelling platform on level with the ocean by easy access stairs into the water. All snorkelling equipment and tuition is included in your trip. Guided snorkel tours are available throughout the day so whether you are a non-swimmer or you’re just interested in learning about life beneath the waves, all of your snorkelling needs are taken care of!

There are two onboard compressors to provide quick air refills, and all scuba equipment, food and accommodation are included in your trip. Optional extras are wetsuits and dive torches if you require them, which are available for hire onboard. Prescription lens masks are also available for hire.

Resort Diving - Reef Encounter offers fantastic ‘no experience necessary’ scuba diving holidays to guests who do not hold a current scuba diving certification. What is ‘Resort Diving’? Resort Diving is for those who do not hold a scuba diving licence but who wish to participate in scuba diving activities during your holiday to The Great Barrier Reef. All resort diving is conducted in small groups under the supervision of a Scuba Instructor. Scuba diving is a fun and safe sport that is accessible to people of all ages and abilities.* Minimum age for trying a resort dive is 12 years. If you wish to attain a scuba diving license during your stay, enrol upon our a Reef Encounter Open Water Course to become certified. Our experienced and professional Scuba Instructors will guide you on underwater tours around pristine coral lagoons and ensure you see the best of the Great Barrier Reef beneath the waves, in safety and comfort.

Night Diving - Feel like an adventure? Reef Encounter is one of very few places in the world with the ability to take people without a scuba qualification on underwater guided tours at night! Your in-water guide will tailor your scuba dives to your experience level, ensuring comfortable and fun dives in prime Outer Barrier Reef locations. As a Top Deck Club scuba diver, a professional crew member will exclusively lead you on private underwater tours. This guarantees you prime diving experiences throughout your trip. Some Medical conditions and or medication may stop you from participating in Scuba Diving these include Asthma or wheezing. Brain spinal cord or nervous disorder, chronic bronchitis or persistent chest complaint, chronic sinus, collapsed lung, diabetes mellitis, chest surgery, Epilepsy, Fainting, Seizure or blackouts, Heart Disease of any kind, recurrent ear problems when flying, tuberculosis or other long-term lung disease and High blood pressure.
