Situated close to the city, Elgin House is an ideal location from which to visit the many attractions of Dunedin.

Elgin House is a grand Victorian Villa built in the late 1800's.  With the atmosphere of the period and all the modern facilities expected by today's traveller, Elgin House allows travellers to experience Victorian grace and elegance while sampling Dunedin's Victorian and Edwardian history.

As your hosts we, Carolyn and Roger Rennie pride ourselves on making our guests feel at home, while providing the highest levels of service and facilities. 
We will be delighted to help you plan your stay in historic Dunedin over a hot drink or a complimentary glass of fine New Zealand wine. 

Elgin House is a short drive (5 minutes) or a small taxi ride to the central city and major institutions such as the Otago University, Polytechnic, Medical School or Dental School.  As such it is an ideal place to stay for graduations or other related activities.
 

Elgin House provides three large and luxuriously appointed rooms.  Tastefully decorated with a mix of period atmosphere and modern conveniences, our rooms delight with a sense of sumptuous comfort while evoking late 1800's ambiance. All rooms are complete with towelling robes, slippers, luxurious linen, fresh flowers and coffee and tea making facilities.

The rooms are serviced twice daily to ensure your utmost comfort.

The choice of rooms are:

Burgundy Room:  Named for rich wall colouring, this room boasts an open fire which can be lit on the cooler evenings.  This is our most luxurious room with a large window seat overlooking our cottage garden.

Rosé Room:  This room has access to the gardens through the French doors.  Tastefully decorated with a flower garden theme, the Rosé Room is aptly named.  The Rosé Room can be combined with the Burgundy Room to configure both as a private two bedroom suite.

Elgin House maintains the air of a more genteel age, while providing all the modern conveniences demanded by today's sophisticated traveller.

Guests are made to feel at home and encouraged to make use of our dining room and lounge, or enjoy the fresh air and views from our balcony.

Breakfast consists of fresh orange juice and a selection of fruits, cereals and yoghurt followed by a variety of locally sourced or home made breads and baking.  This sumptuous breakfast is completed with bacon and eggs accompanied by a range of teas and coffee.

Roger and Carolyn are born and bred in 'The South'.  Jointly, we have a marvelous knowledge of the area and are pleased to be able to share our knowledge and experience with our guests.

Avid travellers ourselves, we enjoy nothing more than to exchange travel stories and tips.  As experienced travellers we fully understand the requirements and expectations of others and are delighted to ensure these requirements are fully satisfied.

Guests are likely to be greeted at the door by Sash, our inquisitive and loving Bichon Frise.
