A stay at Claremont Country Estate is an experience not to be missed! Claremont is a very special place, offering luxury lodge accommodation in some of New Zealand's most spectacular countryside near Christchurch. As you drive through the gates into Claremont, you enter a world of beauty, graciousness, comfort and tranquillity. The heritage limestone homestead is set amongst glorious landscaped rose gardens, orchards and native and exotic tree species, surrounded by rolling pastures with rugged mountains beyond. The atmosphere in the house is warm and friendly and Richard & Rosie's hospitality will make you feel immediately welcome and relaxed.

Claremont Lodge's verandah surrounding the elegant homesteadThe entire heritage homestead with two guest living rooms, several verandas and its stone-walled courtyards is for our guests' exclusive use. Each room in the house, including the guest bedrooms, is elegantly furnished with antiques, wonderful paintings, richly coloured oriental rugs, ornaments and objects d'art, beautiful period furniture and luxuriously textured soft furnishings. There is a sense of stepping into the grace of a bygone era and yet this lovingly restored home is fitted with all the modern conveniences to make your stay comfortable and convenient, including mood lighting, full central heating, a sophisticated sound system, television, internet access and direct dial telephones.

Living Room and Sun Room
The luxury lodge's relaxing living room with period fireplace A room to relax and unwind in, the living room invites guests to sink into comfortable arm chairs and sofas set around a period fireplace and forget the cares of normal day to day life. French doors lead onto vine covered verandas with views over sweeping lawns, flower gardens and a mountain peak beyond, framed by magnificent fir trees. You are invited to share pre-dinner drinks here with your hosts and other guests

The living room extends into a light and airy sun room that leads through bi-fold French doors into a stone walled courtyard with a magnificent walnut tree beyond. The Claremont courtyards provide a number of small, private spaces where guests can gather and interact or couples can sit quietly together to enjoy birds singing and the soothing sound of Claremont's unique boulder fountain.

Casual Living Room
Claremont Estate's cosy casual living room with TV, video, DVD etc The cosy and casual air of the TV room makes it an ideal space for evening relaxation. French doors open out onto the verandah and garden, and overlook the tennis court. This rooms is equipped with TV, video, DVD, stereo system and lap top computer and contains a wide range of NZ interest books. Guests also have access to a well-stocked library from Richard's study. You can sit quietly listening to music, read, check e-mails, catch up on the news events of the day or chat with other guests.

Dining Room
Delicious cuisine in the pavilion dining room at Claremont luxury lodge The pavilion dining room has a cathedral ceiling with lantern top. It is double aspect, giving views of the terraced gardens, natural stone-walled courtyards and boulder fountain through bi-fold glass doors and windows. The magnificent oak refectory table and classic ladder-back chairs seat up to ten guests, creating a romantic setting for Claremont's delicious candle-lit dinners. On warm summer evenings the wide windows and open doors provide an outdoor feel. Dinner can also be served "al fresco" in the courtyard. On cooler evenings guests can enjoy the cosy warmth from the period fireplace.

Kitchen
The warm and welcoming kitchen is the heart of our luxury boutique lodge accommodation. Mouth-watering aromas will whet your appetite for the imaginative and delectable dishes that Rosie and Lucy create for you. Guest are welcome to drop by and chat as our chefs go about preparing your meals from the finest and freshest ingredients, many of which are home grown or local.

Stone-walled Courtyard
The west facing courtyard at Claremont luxury lodge, near Christchurch Bathed in warm evening sunlight, during the summer, you can unwind and relax for a pre-dinner "sun downer" in the west-facing stone-walled courtyard. Here you can watch the magnificent sunsets and in appropriate weather conditions you may be fortunate enough to have a grand stand view of Canterbury's famous nor´west arch cloud formation.

Breakfast Deck
Al-fresco breakfast on Claremont's deck Claremont Country Estate enjoys a Mediterranean climate enabling breakfast to be served "al fresco" throughout the summer months. On these fine summer mornings a leisurely and sumptuous breakfast is served on the east-facing breakfast deck overlooking the landscaped gardens and tennis court to the mountains beyond.
