Lodge
Spectacularly situated on Lake Wakatipu, Matakauri Lodge offers
stunning views from every angle of the Remarkable, Cecil and Walter
Peak mountain ranges. Just seven minutes from Queenstown, Matakauri
Lodge will provide an alpine lakeside retreat nestled in one of
the world’s most serenely beautiful landscapes.
The Lodge and adjoining villas, originally constructed in 2000 with
a contemporary New Zealand design, reopened in August 2010 after
undergoing extensive refurbishment and new interior design by acclaimed
New Zealand Interior Designer, Virginia Fisher.
The main lodge consists of spacious lounge, dining and living areas,
all with views of Lake Wakatipu. The lodge also offers a range of
indoor and outdoor dining options for our guests, including superb
private dining options. An elegant meeting space with a business
centre offering abundant natural light and views of the mountain
ranges beyond.
Facilities include a full service luxury spa, swimming pool with
spa and a fully equipped fitness centre.
The Lodge offers accommodation in eleven luxurious guest suites,
with eight outlying cottages and three suites located in the main
lodge. Every suite offers its own private porch, bedroom with sitting
area and open fireplace, walk-in wardrobe and bathroom. The suites
are nestled in a native forest overlooking Lake Wakatipu and the
mountain panorama.

Main Lodge
The common areas of our boutique New Zealand lodge offer numerous
welcoming and comfortable spaces in which to relax, including stylish
lounges featuring roaring open fires, our Remarkables Patio, Library
and courtyard all offering comfortable spaces to relax in.
The spa
Matakauri Lodge has a Luxury Spa facility, nestled in the pines
adjacent to the guest suites. With two stunning treatment rooms,
the view takes you across Lake Wakatipu to the beautiful Remarkables
Mountain Range and Cecil Peak. Enjoy these views during a selection
of glorious signature treatments including The Alpine Temptation
or The Snowflake Massage. Or choose from a variety of other Spa
treatments such as body wraps, massage, facials, manicures and pedicures.
Gym
The Gym consists of a complete spectrum of exercise equipment and
free weights. Yoga, Pilates and Personal Training are available
by appointment.
Swimming Pool
The luxurious outdoor heated infinity pool is situated at the Spa/Gym
complex. Relax by the pool or in the Jacuzzi with spectacular views
of the lake and mountainside.
Dining
As a Relais & Chateaux property, Matakauri Lodge offers a unique
dining experience in a luxurious setting. Head Chef Jonathan Roger’s
modern New Zealand cuisine is focused on showcasing local seasonal
produce with clean, fresh flavors in an a la carte menu that changes
daily.
Choose from a variety of dining spaces, including the Library, Dining
Room, Remarkables Patio, Courtyard and Lounge, private dining can
be arranged upon request.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served from 7.00am to 10:30am in the dining room and
features a buffet of local and imported fruits, Home-made pastries,
cereals and yoghurts. Additionally an A la Carte selection of cooked
items.
Lunch
Lunch is served from 12.00pm to 3:30pm. There are a variety of sandwiches,
salads and desserts to choose from.
Picnics
We offer a choice of picnic lunches from an activity pack, simple
boxed lunch or a delicious picnic hamper.
Pre Dinner Drinks
Pre dinner drinks commence at 6:00pm and is an excellent time to
meet fellow guests. Hot and cold hors d’oeuvres and a wide range
of wines, beer and spirits are served nightly in the lounge.
Dinner
Dinner is served from 6.00pm to 9.00pm. Our dinner menu changes
nightly and features the finest New Zealand produce.
Wine and bottled water served with dinner are not included in the
daily tariff.
Private Dining
If you would like to dine privately, there are a variety of areas
of the lodge that provide this unique experience.
Room service is available on request.
Spa
We invite you to embark on a sensory journey that will refresh your
body and lift your spirit.
Located on the edge of a pine forest, with uninterrupted views to
Lake Wakatipu and towering Cecil Peak, the spa offers a private
experience in an unrivalled natural environment.
We offer a range of holistic treatments including massages, facials,
hand and foot treatments as well as body care. The Spa team are
committed to personalizing your treatment to meet your specific
needs and our therapists will be happy to guide you in choosing
a spa experience to suit your individual requirements.
Matakauri Spa has two treatments rooms, each with shower, changing
room and private deck surrounded by natural vegetation. For a complete
wellness experience you are welcome to wrap up your spa treatment
with relaxation time in the adjacent sauna, jacuzzi and heated swimming
pool.
For the more energetic, spend some time in our fitness centre while
enjoying the spectacular lake and mountain views from your treadmill.

come home to your Matakauri Lodge accommodation, one of eleven luxurious
suites.
Select from eight outlying suites, two lodge suites and one lodge
room.
Every suite offers its own private porch, bedroom with sitting area
and open fireplace, walk-in wardrobe and bathroom with twin vanities
and oversized bath tub.
The suites are nestled in a native forest overlooking Lake Wakatipu
and the mountain panorama.
Styled by acclaimed interior designer Virginia Fisher, every suite
also features high speed wireless Internet, fully-stocked mini-bar*,
room-controlled air conditioning, flat screen LCD TV, DVD player,
