Your hosts; Stephanie Pursley, her partner Denis Costello and their daughter Tiffany Firth.
Stephanie was a partner in a major Australian commercial law firm when she fell in love with Wanaka. With her partner Denis, an expatriate New Zealander, a developer/ architect & musician, they have built Tiritiri Lodge. Widely travelled with strong links to the hospitality & travel sector the pair have been searching, planning, and realising the dream of Tiritiri for the past ten years. Their vision was to provide a place of warmth, beauty, and sophistication in a totally designed environment, as a base for guests to experience the unique region.
Food
TiriTiri Lodge provides you with your own personal chef,
Tiffany Firth, who after a career in marketing retrained
in Sydney as a chef and worked at Bills2 in Sydney,
one of Bill Grangers famous restaurants. Tiffany will
showcase local produce including West Coast whitebait,
Bluff oysters, salmon, lamb and venison. Otago is a
wonderful fruit and wine growing area and in summer
the stone fruit including peaches, cherries, plums,
apricots and berries of all kinds are delicious and
readily available. In summer go raspberry or cherry
picking with the chef and then join her in the kitchen
to learn how to make a wonderful raspberry shortcake.
Complimentary afternoon tea is provided each day with
amazing cakes, scones and tarts, fresh espresso coffee
and a variety of organic teas. Some evenings will feature
New Zealand wine tastings and gourmet local cheese plates.
Our home grown garden will provide fresh picked salads, vegetables and herbs to complement the meals.
The rooms are furnished with luxurious beds, velvet goose down throws, fine Egyptian cotton linen, pure down duvets and a choice of pillows, custom made carpet, original art, comfortable armchairs or a Le Corbusier recliner and fine New Zealand made personal toiletries.
The lodge features underfloor solar heating, high speed broadband and wireless internet access, and each guest room has its own private outdoor terrace. TV and DVD players are available in guest rooms. Each room has luxurious bath robes, fresh flowers, fruit and handmade chocolates. The suite has its own bath tub and living room with a fireplace providing an elegant and private retreat.
We love it when our guests play the Bechstein grand piano.
There is a library of books, CDs, and DVDs or enjoy your own music through our Ipod speakers. Free High speed broadband internet access is available throughout the lodge.
Across the central courtyard with its outdoor fireplace is another day lounge. It provides guest refreshment facilities and the ideal spot to relax after a busy day before enjoying the large cedar hot tub overlooking the waterfall, pond and Japanese garden.
The garden features exotics and native New Zealand species as well as an alpine garden.
Wanaka, being a dry climate, is wonderful for stargazing. Use our powerful telescope to enjoy the stars.
Undercover parking is provided and in winter ski storage and drying rooms. Bicycles are available for a great ride along the lakefront or by the Clutha River or take a rod and try some fly fishing in some of the finest waters in the world.
There is a laundry for guest use. We dry all our laundry in the sun - the climate is very dry and clothes dry very quickly but of course there is a dryer for guest use. We love the smell of our beautiful linen dried in the sun.
Fly fishing rods re available for guest use and there are 2 bikes to take on the great lakeside path or along the Clutha River or Sticky Forest for the more adventurous.
Boules can be played on the lawn and there are games and cards for those winter evenings.
