Whare Kea
Lodge is located on 60 acres of private farmland on the
shore of Lake Wanaka. Whare Kea Lodge an inspiring building
that captures the
full beauty and grandeur of its lake-side setting and
alpine views, whilst providing the ultimate in
sophisticated accommodation for guests.
Whare Kea
means 'house of the kea' in Maori. It is pronounced
'far-eh-kee-ah'. The Kea, the world's only alpine parrot,
lives high above the snowline in the surrounding
mountains.
Lake Wanaka
celebrates four distinct seasons, with a variety of
activities, attractions and unique wilderness areas.
Centrally located in the Southern Lakes district
travellers are well placed to access the Mount Aspiring ,
Fiordland, Mount Cook and Westland National Parks and the
vast rural landscape that lies between. Whare Kea Lodge
provides a relaxing base to absorb the ambience of this
lake-side resort, and explore the surrounding region.
Whare Kea
Lodge has two master suites and four deluxe rooms
accommodating a maximum of twelve guests. All rooms at Whare
Kea Lodge include; a large ensuite bathroom with double
ended bath and separate double shower, walk in dressing
room/wardrobe, coded personal security safe, Bose stereo
sound system, cordless phone, broad-band wireless internet
access, writing desk and an arm chair and footrest. All Whare
Kea Lodge rooms have direct access to the sundeck with an
outdoor table setting.
The two
spacious master suites at Whare Kea Lodge are situated at the end of each wing,
include a king sized double bed, and in addition to those
features mentioned above, a double sofa, occasional table
with arm chairs, large writing desk and outdoor sun loungers. The four deluxe rooms
at Whare Kea Lodge can be configured as two
king single beds or one king-sized double bed.
The Whare
Kea Lodge central living area comprises three lounge
spaces including open fire, a bar and dining area. In
addition there is a billiard & TV lounge room, massage
room, cellar room, guest communications centre as well as
outdoor areas.
