Perth a compact city, located on the blue waters of the Swan River enjoys mild winters and hot summer days. Shady parks and elegantly restored buildings makes this an ideal city to be explored at leisure, and ideally on foot.
Cultural facilities include museums, art galleries, theatres and of course plenty of restaurants and cafes where you can dine indoors or al fresco. Many of the cultural highlights, including the Western Australian Museum, are located just a couple of blocks from the city mall in the area known as Northbridge. Perth has an extensive public transport system including the free "CAT" bus that will take you to many points of interest around the city.
A short walk from the city centre is Kings Park where you will find 400 hectares of stunning bushland and sculpted gardens, including a treetop canopy walkway to enhance your viewing experience of the flora and fauna.
From humble beginnings the fledgling colony that established itself on the swampy shores of the Swan River in 1829 has grown to become modern city of grand architecture and great outdoor spaces.
Margaret River is located 300km south of Perth and is known for its vineyards, produce, and the natural beauty of the river and its valley. Margaret River is also handily located for exploring the highlights of this South West corner of Australia with its numerous National Parks and Conservation Parks.
West of Margaret River you will find Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park that stretches along the 120kms of coast between Cape Naturaliste and Cape Leeuwin. It features swimming and surfing beaches, cliffs, caves and walking trails. In winter humpback and southern right whales may be seen from coastal vantage points and in spring enjoy the spectacular displays of wildflowers.
The Margaret River Wine Region may only contribute 3% to Australia's total wine production but represents 20% of the country's premium wine category so for those who are serious about wine Margaret River is an ideal destination. Combined with other local gourmet products, and the colourful farmers markets of the region, makes this the place to indulge your tastebuds.
